![]() Doing it without rotation is also possible for advanced players but for starters I really recommend you to rotate the camera! Step 2 – Now you need to adjust the wind so you will rotate the camera so you’re facing the wind straight, this will help adjusting the wind direction in the correct line. Ignore the wind here completely, just plan your shot and when you have your desired landing position set, we will take care of the wind adjustment. Step 1 – set your desired landing position that you want to ball to land, this is your goal target where you want the ball to bounce. The Ring Method works pretty well with 3 steps: This is the amount of rings you need according to the ring method I described above. Result – you will see the amount of rings you need to adjust in the bottom three fields when you entered the values correctly. More power means you ball will go further and this will also have an impact on the result I’d already select it BEFORE you start your play to save precious time, especially in tournament.īall Power – if you use a ball with Power I to Power V please also select that. The wind adjustment depends also on the level of your club so make sure that you’re selecting that right. The wind calculator always works with the wind that you really have to play with and when your ball reduces the wind, that’s the wind you need to adjust to.Ĭlub / Club Level – obviously, this is the club you’re currently playing with. If you use a ball that will reduce the wind please insert the reduced wind. Wind – please enter here the wind you’re seeing on the screen. I have made the calculator below to let you easily insert the wind you have with the club & ball you’re using and you will get the correct adjustments you need to make.

![]() In writing this blog post about Trump, I’m violating a self-imposed embargo on political commentary. And yet millions of Americans seem to think that that’s okay, because, hey, look at how funny and clever some of his tweets are, right? Because if you think rationally, you would simply not want a man known for recklessness and impulsivity to be in charge of a nuclear arsenal that could wipe out humanity. While Trump followers are reveling in his badass personna and loving the way he doesn’t fit the mold of the traditional politician, they seem to be living in their emotional brain (also known as the ”limbic system”), while the rest of us are accessing our rational (prefrontal cortex) brain. But he’s still quite able to incinerate millions of people in other ways, most notably through recklessly, impulsively, and/or rashly, triggering a nuclear incident or even a nuclear war, resulting in tens of millions, or even hundreds of millions of people dying instantly with many more dying later on. I could go on, but I want to stop you there, because I know you’re thinking that Trump could never round up several million people (oh, wait, he’s talked about doing that! – but let’s let that go for the moment) and exterminate them. They both become unhinged by current events, reacting to them with stinging anger and vicious reprisals. One Leader” (Hitler) and ”Make American Great Again” (Trump). There are many parallels with Hitler, most especially in the fact that they both had/have massive inferiority complexes giving rise to pathological ego-mania, and they both tap into a collective inferiority complex of an entire nation giving rise to nationalistic bravado and slogans like ”One People. The truth is, I’m afraid that Donald Trump is turning into another incarnation of Adolf Hitler. Now then, what does all this have to do with Donald Trump? Plenty. ![]() But every once in a while, I’ll have a dream of a movie theater where a woman’s face is about to be shown and a voice is about to be heard (on the cover of the Life magazine article, Anne Frank talked about wanting to visit Hollywood), and I experience a paralyzing terror that makes me race out of the theater before this even occurs. There would be other encounters as well, as I watched documentaries showing the dead bodies heaped up in piles (I look away now whenever I see them on TV), and visited the United States Holocaust Museum (I psyched myself into looking over the rim of the exhibit having to do with the Nazi’s medical experiments).Īs an adult, I’ve learned how to ”cope” or ”defend” against the terror that I experienced as a young child by using my rational faculties to put the various episodes of the Holocaust into various contexts, categories and compartments of my brain. Shirer, which covered the Holocaust in graphic detail. I had another less severe, but still shocking encounter with it when, as 13 year old, I read the chapter ”The Final Solution” in The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William L. Somehow, without people explicitly explaining the Holocaust to me, I had glimpsed in essence the dark evil of that event, the true horror of those years.Īs I grew up, I learned more about the Holocaust. I believe that young child are able to pick up on things (feelings, moods, energies, concepts) that are ”in the air,” even at a distance (almost like a highly sensitive short wave radio). This was my introduction to the Holocaust. I developed a phobia about going back to that barbershop because of my fear that I’d see that magazine again. It became so acute that I was even afraid to look at the cover picture of Anne Frank. I don’t have the words to convey the terror I felt. I don’t remember if anyone told me anything about the content of the magazine, but what I remember most vividly was how absolutely terrified I became of what was inside that Life magazine. I remember looking through the magazine and seeing pictures of people with black and white striped pajamas on. When I was seven years old, I was at the local barbershop in my hometown of Fargo, North Dakota, when I picked up a Life Magazine that had Anne Frank on the cover (Aug– see image on the left). ![]() I thought, ‘Wow, is this what life can lead to? Watching the fuckin’ cars go by on the interstate?’” And thus “Pink Houses”‘ first verse was born. He was sitting on his front lawn in front of a pink house in one of those shitty, cheap lawn chairs. “I was driving through Indianapolis on Interstate 65 and I saw a black man holding either a cat or a dog. The song’s inspiration came about when Mellencamp saw a striking image so simple yet profound that, to him, was a take on modern America at the time. The American dream had pretty much proven itself as not working anymore.” Mellencamp told Rolling Stone in 2013. ![]() “This one has been misconstrued over the years because of the chorus – it sounds very rah-rah. On the surface, its chorus laden with claps and innately nationalistic lyrics can come off as self-indulgent, but the song delves much deeper. “Pink Houses” took on an extremely large idea and found a way to embody America in a three-verse pop song. ![]() But throughout its offerings, one track really challenged the boundaries of a typical 80’s rock song. 1983’s Uh-Huh was as gritty, homeland, and humble as pop music could get in the rise of the “greed decade.” Tracks like “Crumblin Down” and “Authority Song” became instant hits and remain radio staples to this day. Mellencamp may have been willing to reluctantly compromise on his name early on, but he was never willing to compromise his music and ideals. Mellencamp was finally allowed to put his real last name on the record when he did the highly anticipated follow-up to his breakthrough hit under the proper title of “John Cougar Mellencamp.” Mellencamp, the singer-songwriter struggled to establish an identity, which became one of rock’s most infamous tugs-of-war. ![]() His 1982 breakthrough hit “Jack and Diane” helped make Mellencamp a household name – but not by the name those close to him knew him by. Related: “John Mellencamp’s ‘American Fool'” While many were trying to break artistic boundaries in the new medium of video, Mellencamp showed humble images of his small hometown and the idiosyncracies he sang about. The Indiana rocker carried a torch for middle America into the MTV age with lyrics and stories pertaining to life in small-town U.S.A. At a time dominated by synthesizers and excess, there was Mellencamp smoking cigarettes in ripped denim and swinging an acoustic guitar bigger than his torso. Mellencamp was undoubtedly a champion of Americana in the 1980s. Second was Bob Seger which I’m still convinced to this day was a vehicle to mellow his brazen exterior and channel his sentimental side. The first was his premiere musical love above all else, Aerosmith – hometown heroes and rockstar extraordinaire. The majority of his collection consisted of three musical discographies. Half of the time the stereo would be set to the local classic rock station, and the other half would be from his personal CD collection. His garage would often emit the sounds of frustration from his work and the music that helped mask the former. He did the same with candidate John McCain in 2000.Growing up in rural Massachusetts my father was a welder, mechanic, and most of all a hard worker. Ain’t that America?!įun fact: Mellencamp refused to permit President Ronald Reagan to use this song in his 1984 campaign. The winner of the contest sold the house two days after moving in. So the channel had to buy another house and paint it pink. When it was discovered that the prize house was located across from a toxic waste dump, Mellencamp refused to let MTV give it away. To promote the song, MTV ran a contest where one viewer would win a pink house. Unlike “Jack & Diane” and “Hurts So Good”, Mellecamp shared that writing “Pink Houses” happened “very quickly”. Despite its use as a pro-America theme, the lyrics are sarcastic with Mellcamp calling it “an anti-American song”. Mellencamp said his inspiration for the song came when he saw black man sitting in a lawn chair watching the road, when driving down Interstate 65 in Indianapolis. It became his fourth of ten career US top 10 hits and Rolling Stone magazine ranked the single at #447 on their “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” list in 2004. “Pink Houses” was the second single released from the 1983 album Uh-Huh. ![]() Beautiful Uthmanic script scalable font.Ability to share selected aya via email, twitter & Facebook. Due to how the radiation generated from the device interacts and propagates within the atmosphere (it’s called the Compton Effect) a successful HEMP would essentially fry sensitive electronics within its range in the area beneath the detonation (hundreds of miles/kilometers depending on altitude.) For a HEMP, it is irrelevant if the device is plugged in. ![]() Extreme low likelihood of occurring, but if it does, the results are catastrophic. One exchange with Congress is linked below:Īn EMP fits into what is called a low-likelihood, high-causality event, such as a large earthquake, for this reason. The exact estimates range from 50% up to 90% from various accounts. The report, in short, stated that the majority of the population would be dead within a year due to cascading effects of infrastructure failure. Now disbanded, the EMP Commission was formed within the government during 2001 and tasked with exploring this potential disaster further. This is known as a HEMP, as is written about in the fictional novel, One Second After. When talking about an EMP in the context on these boards, most are referring to a high-altitude detonation of a nuclear device in the atmosphere. As a bit of background, I’m currently a Graduate student in the Emergency Management/Disaster Preparedness field, and have been interested in self-reliance (a more palpable term than ‘prepping’) for nearly a decade. Hello everyone! I’ve seen a continuous stream of EMP related questions so thought I’d put together a document for everyone’s reference. ![]() When discovered, Barney is found looking for change in the toilets singing "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen" why would he be singing that particular song, with those particular lyrics? When recruited by NASA, Barney outshines everybody and shows a hyper intelligence not witnessed before by Homer, who's known Barney his entire life. The list goes on, he's the star of the show in the barber quartet with the B Sharps. This suggests a deeper and impossibly creative side to Barney that isn't usually shown in the show. He shot a beautiful, articulate and artistic piece and contains within it one of the most poignant quotes in a cartoon ever recorded "Don't cry for me, I'm already dead." The reception is a stand in ovation, critical acclaim and Barney even wins the film festival. Take for instance Barney's self made short movie that he made for the film festival. Yet there are clear signs that this isn't the real Barney. ![]() Skip forward in time and we see Barney pretty much drunk all the time and saying stupid stuff all the time and is constantly written off by other people as a waste of life. That kind of behavior is consistent with a repressed childhood and perhaps even sheltered, that when released from it, people tend to go a little wild and are more prone to developing addictive dependencies. (And he grew up in suburban, white christian America in the 60's and 70's) When he takes his first sip, that's it, Barney is gone and is replaced by another form of Barney not previously seen before, but turns out to be the Barney we all know from the show. This suggests to me that Barney has a high intellect, and perhaps a conservative christian family life, considering his hesitation to drink or get in trouble. Before he drank, he was a straight A student, really smart, and was very afraid of breaking the rules. There's a episode of the Simpsons that shows Barney's first time drinking alcohol. But I was thinking today in work about him and I started to wonder why Barney Gumble was the way he was. Which admittedly he is the majority of the time. Barney Gumble is often overlooked in the Simpsons as just a belching, drunk simpleton. |
